Eye Tests

"I have today had my appointment at the Singleton Eye Clinic, as a result of your referral relating to glaucoma. They were impressed that you had referred me at this stage".

Mrs K B, Swansea

What are the warning signs of eye disease?

Eye sight is precious...Identifying the warning signs can be difficult. You can't always see the problems by looking in a mirror. Many eye diseases have no pain or discomfort and in their early stages your eye sight may be unaffected ... so it's important to have your eyes examined regularly and thoroughly.

Half of all sight loss can be avoided through the early detection of eye conditions

You may not know if you are at increased risk of developing an eye problem but some groups of people have an increased risk of getting an eye problem because certain eye diseases run in families or affect some races more than others.

Most people need to get their eyes examined every 2 years. If you are diabetic, over 70, under 16 or are over 40 and have a family history of glaucoma you should have your eyes examined every year.
